Unit 2 Report of my Audience for the SpaceRobot.
The
idea behind the SpaceRobot was to create a mascot for a children’s club
activities. This character is to appear in all television, poster
and internet advertisements.
Because the aim
was to create a mascot character for children’s club activities, it had to be
cute/child-friendly so that it could appeal to the target audience (children).
Upon researching
my target audience, I looked at multiple options.
Most
mascots had simplified designs, chubby round bodies, and bright eye-catching
colours.
So, when
I was starting to create my mascot, I knew I wanted it to be round, appealing,
and not too overly complicated.
I also
took inspiration from cartoons like South Park because their designs were cute,
appealing and already popular with kids and adults alike. Plus, the simplicity
of their designs meant they would be easy to create from scratch.
Other
mediums I looked at were games and movies. One of these was Rocket League.
This game was interesting, as they were
robotic cars that rode around and kicked a football. Which reminds me of my
concept – a robot running around and playing extreme sports.
Animation wise, I looked at the movie, ‘Monsters
vs Aliens’ because they had different types of monsters, aliens, and robots
that I could use as a reference for how my mascot would move and act.
Self-evaluation:
Some
strengths of my design are that it is you are able to recognise what it is and
I can make the model move and walk, however it lacks detail, depth, and I need
to add colour and texture for it to be complete.
-Lacking
detail
-No depth
-Add
colours and textures
